The Ultimate Guide to Sun Protection: Hats, Sunglasses, and More

Want to age like fine wine instead of a sun-dried raisin? Let me spill the tea on keeping your skin fabulously flawless! Today we are diving into The Ultimate Guide to Sun Protection: Hats, Sunglasses, and More

Hey there, gorgeous people! Adrienne Keyser here, CEO of AB-FAB Designs, bringing you the ultimate guide to sun protection. Let’s face it, no one wants to look like a leather handbag before their time.

Living in the sunny paradise of Belize, I’ve mastered the art of dodging those pesky UV rays (video below).

Grab your wide-brimmed hat, slip on your oversized sunnies, and let’s dive into the hilarious yet crucial world of sun protection!

Tip 1: Hats, Hats, and More Hats

I’ve been rocking hats since my teen years. Wide-brimmed, floppy, straw – you name it, I’ve worn it! Hats are not just fashion statements; they’re your first line of defense against the sun. For the love of your skin, invest in a good hat. Not only do they keep you cool and shaded, but they also give off major diva vibes.

Tip 2: Sunglasses – Your Eye’s Best Friend

Crow’s feet? Not on my watch! Since my early twenties, I’ve been hiding behind large, stylish sunglasses. They protect your delicate eye area from squint-induced wrinkles and add an air of mystery. Plus, you can spy on people without them knowing. Win-win!

Tip 3: SPF – Slather It On Like Butter

SPF is non-negotiable, darling. And I don’t mean just for the beach. Make it a daily habit. I keep my it Cosmetics powder foundation with SPF 50 in my handbag. Touching up my makeup also means reapplying my SPF. Talk about multitasking like a boss!

Tip 4: Umbrellas Aren’t Just for Rain

Living in Belize’s tropical sun, my blackout umbrella, imported straight from the States, is my constant companion. It’s like carrying your own portable shade. People might look at you funny, but hey, who’s laughing when your skin still looks like a baby’s bottom?

Tip 5: Clothing as Armor

Long sleeves and light fabrics are your friends. Go for flowy, breathable materials that cover more skin but keep you cool. Bonus points if they come in fun, vibrant colors. Remember, more coverage means less UV damage.

Tip 6: Anti-Aging Trick – Start Early

The earlier you start protecting your skin, the better. I began my face protection regimen in my teens, and now in my mid-50s, I’m just starting to notice a bit more aging. Trust me, your future self will thank you. Think of it as a long-term investment in your beauty bank.

Tip 7: Tips for African Americans and People of Color

People of color, rejoice! Our melanin offers some protection, but it’s not enough. Darker skin tones can still get sunburned and are susceptible to skin cancer. Opt for sunscreens that don’t leave a white cast – there are plenty of brands that cater to our beautiful hues. Look for broad-spectrum SPF to cover all bases.

The Ultimate Guide to Sun Protection: Hats, Sunglasses, and More

So there you have it, darlings! Sun protection doesn’t have to be boring. With these tips, you can keep your skin looking young and fabulous, no matter where you are. And remember, it’s never too late to start.

STAY FASHIONABLE 🥰, stay protected!

Cheers to looking like a snack forever,
