This season I was excited to see MFW kicked off with We Are Made In Italy (Black Lives Matter In Italian Fashion – Collective), ignorant to the diversity issues in Italy. Now I’m debating, Milan Fashion Week A/W 2022 Should I Actually Keep Covering It?
I recall my mother, who traveled for her government job & fun; claimed Italy was the best place she had ever been (granted she never made it to Paris, lol)
Italy has always been on my bucket list but after discovering the lack of diversity, I’m rethinking my view.
So I ask my friends… Milan Fashion Week A/W 2022 Should I Actually Keep Covering It?

I want to start off by saying MILAN KILLED IT on venues & set designs!!
WHAT’S NEW: Love the huge inflatables they used as set design showcasing their signature denim. Oversize belts made into frayed denim UBER MINI SKIRTS! Stuck to the seasonless trend showing wooly shearling overcoats next to micro minis & SOFT NUDES for A/W 2022. Waxed denim trench coats
IN MY CART: Smocked yellow mini dress & ALL KNIT MINIS
WHAT’S NEW: Unusual mixed medium designs (faux fur paired with metallics & chiffon in 1 piece); everything but the kitchen sink in a look, BUT IT WORKS! Emphasis on collar details like layered ruffles & turtleneck knits. ALSO lots of shearling/lambskin this season
IN MY CART: Silk dress with rose velvet burnout, ALL silver knit sweaters, large paillettes mermaid pants & skirt, white chiffon dress
SIGNATURE:OVERTLY SEXY designs with bold prints. If you WANT TO GET **CKED YOU WEAR CAVALLI!
WHAT’S NEW: This season the collection says, “LET ME TIE YOU UP!” Total dominatrix vibes with belting & harnesses. WHY CURVED HEELS, lol? YES, they’re back & Cavalli makes them sexy again!
For A/W 2022, the brand dove into the 90s Cavalli archives to revive the current trends: tartan plaids, chocker necklaces & studded combat boots. MODERNIZING CAVALLI CLASSICS like adding a relief style rose to combat boots & as as a focus for many designs
SIGNATURE: It’s NO ACCIDENT the Prada brand is in soooo many songs… PRADA IS FASHION!! Their signature is to channel eras: 1920s drop waists, the 40s bold shoulders with strappy sandals & 50s full circle skirts. ALSO pocket & logo details are classic Prada. And don’t forget NEXT LEVEL accessories, shoes & bags! Every season Prada gives us WOW and A/W 2022 WAS NO EXCEPTION!!
WHAT’S NEW: Prada doesn’t do “new/trendy” THEY BUILD IT & WE COME!Liya Kebede (90s SUPERMODEL) comeback WHOA, she never ages!!
IN MY CART: I enjoy covering designers that are totally me & PRADA IS!LIVING for the chain cross neck detail with logo plaque. DOUBLE BAG… WHAT? YASSSS!
SIGNATURE:STUNNINGLY EDGY, Italian menswear
WHAT’S NEW: More leather this season including COOL PAINTER STYLE JUMPSUITS. Miuccia & Raf gave us the BOLD SHOULDER TREND & unique fur details on jackets & overcoats. Their were cool actors that walked, but Jeff Goldblum KILLED IT closing the show!
SIGNATURE: Known for their UNIQUETAKE on the trends. Not a brand you wear head to toe; when you need a trending piece for the season, you go to Blumarine!
WHAT’S NEW: Relief roses as the focus of many designs & the CATSUIT TREND is new for Blumarine
SIGNATURE: Every season Jeremy Scott gives us what we come to love… BEAUTIFULLY EXECUTED ART! Jeremy has an affinity for the 50s era so it’s NO SURPRISE he references it when he created the A/W 2022 collection
WHAT’S NEW: This season we were treated to a Moschino “MET GALA”! The TRUE DEFINITION OF LUXURY including Jeremy coming out in the most BAD ASS astronauts uniform NASA could only dream of!!!
IN MY CART: Like every season I WANT IT ALL, but my standouts are THE HATS/HEADPIECES… LITTLE CHAIR PLEASE!!
SIGNATURE: When you think of Tod’s you think AMAZING LEATHER, OUTWEAR & BAGS, so for A/W 2022 they DID NOT DISAPPOINT! They kept to their signature of classic pieces, modernized
WHAT’S NEW: Tod’s jumped on the GLITTER TREND
IN MY CART: Milk chocolate collared cape, off the shoulder full length leather dress, SHEARLING GLOVES with leather strap
SIGNATURE: Known for their BEAUTIFUL CEVRON PATTERN & GENIUS KNITWEAR!
WHAT’S NEW: They came out of the gate with the SEASONLESS TREND, showing beautiful overcoats with knit bikinis. Cinched “harem-style” pants no doubt pulled from the 90s Missoni archives along with the waxed leather pieces. SUPERMODEL ALERT: Amber Valetta walked like she never retired!
IN MY CART: Signature chevron pattern sequin full length column dress, full length knit dress with sequin thread, ALLSEQUIN COATS
SIGNATURE: The Etro woman is a LUX TRENDSETTING POWER CHICK. She walks in the room like, “I’M THAT BITCH!” Etro designs the boho collection of your dreams with BANGIN’ BAGS & ACCESSORIES
WHAT’S NEW: Etro’s signature IS new! Standouts this season are NEXT LEVEL prints & different types of wool for the knitwear designs
IN MY CART:BRING IT ALL BABY, especially the sequin tops paired with velvet suits LIVING!!
SIGNATURE:IN YOUR FACE, UNAPOLOGETIC LUXURY SEXY collections! Gender bending creations like chiffon spaghetti strap tank tops & florals for men. GUCCI IS ALL ABOUT THE BAGS BABY! And the attention to detail on their accessories is BEYOND!!
WHAT’S NEW: This season the brand collaborated with adidas to create LUXURY STREETWEAR! Who says you can’t walk your kids to school in $4k Gucci/adidas pants with logo leather beret? Then add a clashing tartan plaid Gucci/adidas overcoat & YOU’RE READY FOR THE BOARDROOM!
WHAT’S NEW: Using the corset trend as a focus for A majority of the collection. For A/W 2022 Versace went to their 90s ARCHIVES to modernize latex, cargo pants, lug soles, houndstooth & plaid
SIGNATURE: A/W 2022 is the first time covering the Marin collection. My take, HIGH ART brand
WHAT’S NEW: Felt the LONG runway collection was difficult to follow due to the idea of showing the designs by limited lighting & models shining flashlights on the designs. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT? You are only getting the details of the back of the garment!!
IN MY CART: Not my vibe but looking forward to seeing what they come up with in future collections
SIGNATURE: When you think Bottega you see THE WOVEN LEATHER that put this global brand on the fashion map!
WHAT’S NEW: This season BV gave us THEIR ICONIC bucket bag with a long strap you can sling over your shoulder & a double bucket with a long strap; giving field worker vibes
IN MY CART: The entire collection IS FIRE and its ALL COVETABLE! The leather full skirts with matching fringe underskirt paired with crew neck sweaters are NEXT LEVEL!!!
SIGNATURE: Although it’s my first time covering a full runway, Ferrari has been in the apparel & accessories game for decades! LOVE they incorporated a few accent colors to their legendary red, white, black & grey
IN MY CART: This LUXURY collection is as HOT as their car designs: SLEEK, MODERN & SEXY AF! Also like their cars the A/W 2022 collection screams “I’M ITALIAN, DAMN IT!”
SIGNATURE: Luxury streetwear for the URBANPOWER WOMAN
WHAT’S NEW: To be perfectly honest, I watched the menswear collection from a month ago (below) before reviewing this collection. Dean & Dan [Caten] were inspired by a mountain climbing, nomadic lifestyle
IN MY CART: Surprisingly I enjoyed the men’s designs more than the women’s. However, I loved THE VIBRANT SWEATERS & a few skirts, but overall it wasn’t my style. Can’t wait to see the twins get back to their signature sharp cut suits & Italian FRESH STREETWEAR
SIGNATURE: This was my first time covering a “men’s-only” DSquared2 collection; used to seeing men’s & womenswear together. Luxury streetwear for TRENDSETTING ARTISTIC men
WHAT’S NEW: As mentioned above Dean & Dan wants everyone to get out & CLIMB EVEREST, or at least look like we want to!
IN MY CART: Although I liked the menswear collection more than the women’s, I missed the FIERECE MEN’S SUITING the twins are known for!!

I am going to take a moment to give you a little history on this FASHION GENIUS/ARTIST
87 YEARS OLD & still creating 6 collections + each year IS REMARKABLE! If you love fashion then educate yourself on this LIVING LEGEND!! How many more years will we have him to create for us? Take the time to learn more ⬇️
SIGNATURE: The Emporio brand DEFINED Italian street/activewear
WHAT’S NEW: Mr. Armani has done EVERYTHING in fashion so what’s new are the textiles & SATURATED PASTELS for A/W 2022
IN MY CART: The first look is FIRE, a smocked color-blocked jacket. Logo sheer tanks + ALL the shiny waxed pleather pieces, YAS halter! Black baby doll style tunic with bow & jewel details paired with biker shorts, GORGEOUS!!
SIGNATURE:DIDN’T YOU READ THE WIKI? GIORGIO IS modern Italian fashion! Exquisite textiles & tailoring is why he is A LEGEND!!
WHAT’S NEW: No music during runway show was interesting. GLITTER TREND sparkled on many designs for A/W 2022
IN MY CART: Dying for the ALL the glitter + the tie without collard shirt looks
After viewing ALL of the Milan Fashion Week collections, I can report there was diversity on the runway. However, I didn’t see a large number of full figure models. It makes sense because Italy doesn’t have the obesity problems we have in the States.
Although you saw EVERY RACEREPRESENTED on the catwalk, it’s true their is NO DIVERSITY in the ateliers. SO I ask you fashionistas…
